Featured Energy Champions

mkorshalomlogoCongregation M'kor Shalom now saves nearly 40% on the building's utility bill after making substantial energy upgrades, including a new HVAC system and upgraded duct work, an Energy Management System (that had a return on investment of 12-18 months), new LED lighting in the sanctuary and lighting sensors throughout the building. mkorshalomproclamation_xs

On February 13, 2012, Mayor Chuck Cahn recognized M'kor Shalom as the first congregational It's In Our Power Energy Champion.  Accepting a Proclamation from the Mayor is Anne Simonoff, Chair of the M'kor Shalom Green Council, which educates members of M'kor Shalom on how to reduce their carbon footprint and live more sustainably.

Our Power Cherry Hill Campaign Provides Fuel-Efficient Vehicles List

        fuel-efficient-cars image

Transportation encompasses a large percentage of greenhouse gas emissions. In Cherry Hill, more than a quarter of our carbon footprint comes from automobiles (28%). If the types of vehicles we use are more fuel efficient, a large impact can be made on the carbon footprint in town.

The It's In Our Power Cherry Hill campaign encourages residents to make their next vehicle purchase from among a list of fuel efficient models. Specifically, this effort focuses on getting consumers to purchase only vehicles that have a government calculated fuel efficiency rating of “35 MPG highway” (or greater). We have identified 324 vehicles that make the list of vehicles that get 35MPG highway (or greater) criteria. Included are data for the last seven model years.

* Vehicles are sorted by automaker.

New fuel efficient cars for 2012 are listed on the website!  Take a look here.
