Cherry Hill Embarks on Energy-Saving Campaign to Save Money and Reduce our Carbon Footprint

Cherry Hill has committed to getting our community on track to solve the climate and energy crisis!

We will be posting practical, cost-effective steps to Save Money and Save the Planet. If we all do them, then Cherry Hill will meet our goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 2% within two years.

Featured Energy Champion: Macy's Cherry Hill

Macy’s was designated as an Energy Champion for replacing all of their lights at their Cherry Hill Mall store with LED lighting, which uses 90 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and has a much longer lifetime, thereby producing much less environmental waste. In addition, shoppers will have a much cooler and more comfortable experience because LED lights do not emit nearly as much heat as traditional light bulbs.

Sharp School Wins Energy Champion School Competition

sharp 5th graders It's In Our Power Cherry Hill recognizes the Joseph D. Sharp School as an It’s In Our Power Energy Champion and winner of the It’s In Our Power School Competition. They produced the greatest number of families who have taken the pledge to the reduce their energy use and lower their carbon footprint. The Sharp School Green Team took a leadership role in encouraging families to take the pledge. As winners of the competition, the Sharp School Green Team received a $500 donation from Sustainable Cherry Hill to pursue future sustainability projects.
